Potatoes au Gratin

Slightly adapted from this recipe by Amy Hicks

INGREDIENTS
2½ pounds potatoes sliced with mandolin 🥔
1½ cups heavy cream
2tbsp melted butter 🧈
2 garlic cloves, minced 🧄
1 block of gruyere, mozzarella, or havarti cheese shredded 🧀

DIRECTIONS

  • Preheat oven to 350°

  • Whisk together heavy cream, melted butter, and garlic cloves.

  • Put a layer of potatoes down in large casserole dish, sprinkle with salt and pepper

  • Pour a third of the heavy cream mixture over, cover with a layer of cheese, repeat for second layer, then repeat for third layer except don't cover with cheese just yet.

  • Cook for 1 hour 15 minutes covered

  • Uncover, stir contents, and sprinkle with remaining cheese

  • Continue cooking uncovered for ~10–15 minutes until desired brownness.
